What do we do when we pray and hear nothing back? The encounter between Jesus and the Canaanite woman places us right in the middle of that uncomfortable silence. Here is a woman with no religious credentials, no standing among God's people, and no leverage to offer. She comes with only her need and a desperate cry: Lord, have mercy.
