SOYL - School of Young Leaders

A LINC Bay Area Program

Dear Bethany Family,

Attached you will find a narrative and budget for a 9 week summer internship for graduating high school seniors and college students. The difference between this internship and most others, is that SOYL seeks, “To provide quality education, mission and leadership experiences for youth.” Young adults who participate in this program will leave with core competencies in the New Testament, Communication, Leadership and Life-Skills. They are taking a step toward leadership in their church, or even toward a life of serving the Lord as a professional church worker.

You will also find a first year budget which shows how SOYL will immediately create funds which will allow for the SOYL Director to continue the program into the future without the need for ongoing gifts to the program.

Bethany is raising funds to pay for the director position until SOYL is self-funding after the summer of this year. Our goal is to raise $55,000-75,000. A “challenge grant” came from a small group of families, who have committed $25,000 if all Board members make a commitment to support SOYL and donate. The Board has met this challenge and we are well on our way to meeting our financial goal. I would like to encourage all of our members and friends to make a gift to this new and exciting program. I am willing to meet with anyone who has questions about the program.

We have all of 2017 to raise funds, and we will keep you apprised of our progress both in terms of finances and in terms of bringing in students for the first summer SOYL which will be this summer.

God’s Peace,
Pastor Jon
