The Holy City, The City of Peace

Today we listen to most of the Passion Week story on the Sunday when we celebrate that Jesus rode into Jerusalem. The story stands in stark contrast with the joy of Palm Sunday. The story also stands in stark contrast with the name Jerusalem. Salem means peace, and while Jerusalem also has a meaning that it was God’s before given to Israel, it still means City of Peace, along with being the Holy City or City of God. Today we will consider how this contrast helps us focus on Jesus, who is the Prince of Peace even has he faces everything opposite of peace.
